Welcome To Plugged In Recovery!
While it’s essential to be prepared for your stay at residential rehab with all the right things, it’s also important to avoid bringing specific items. To that end, Plugged In Recovery provides a detailed packing list of what to bring and what not to bring to our Scottsdale, AZ, rehab center.
What To Bring
Documentation
Identification Card
Ensure you bring a valid government-issued photo ID. This is crucial for verifying your identity and is often required for various administrative processes during your stay. It is also recommended that you keep a photocopy as a backup.
Insurance Card
Bring your insurance card to facilitate the verification of your coverage. This helps streamline the admission process and ensures that you will not be delayed starting your treatment due to insurance verification issues.
Prescription Info
Have a list of your current prescriptions. This should include the name of the medication, the dosage, and the prescribing doctor. Keeping this information handy ensures accurate and timely medication administration.
Pharmacy Info
Include contact information for your pharmacy. This is important if we need to coordinate for refills or verify any medication-related questions. Having your pharmacy’s contact information readily available can save time and reduce stress.
CLOTHING
SEVEN DAYS OF CLOTHING
Pack enough casual clothing for a week. Choose comfortable, easy-to-wash items that you can mix and match. Consider the climate and bring layers to accommodate weather changes or air conditioning sensitivity. Laundry facilities are available.
PAJAMAS/SLEEPWEAR
Bring comfortable sleepwear. Opt for something cozy and modest. Feeling comfortable and at ease during rest periods is essential for recovery.
EXERCISE CLOTHING
Include workout clothes for physical activities. Physical fitness is crucial to our program; proper attire will help you participate fully in all activities. Ensure your exercise clothes are breathable and provide good support.
SWIMWEAR
Pack swimwear for water activities. Swimming can be therapeutic for recovery, offering relaxation and physical exercise. Choose swimwear that is practical and comfortable for extended use.
SHOES
Ensure you have suitable, closed-toe footwear for various activities. These should be supportive and comfortable, ideal for indoor and outdoor activities. Proper footwear helps prevent injuries and ensures you can participate in all physical aspects of the program.
HYGIENE
TOOTHBRUSH & TOOTHPASTE
Remember your dental hygiene essentials. Good oral hygiene is important for overall health; bringing your preferred brands can help you maintain your routine.
MOUTHWASH (ALCOHOL-FREE)
Ensure your mouthwash is alcohol-free. Alcohol-based products are not permitted as they can be a trigger for some individuals. An alcohol-free mouthwash ensures you maintain oral hygiene without compromising your recovery.
SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
Bring your preferred hair care products. Having familiar products can add a sense of normalcy and comfort to your daily routine. Choose items that are gentle and suitable for everyday use.
LOTION
Pack moisturizing lotion. A good lotion will help keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Opt for a scent-free option.
SUNSCREEN
Protect your skin with sunscreen. Our program can include outdoor activities, and protecting yourself from sun exposure is important. Choose a high-SPF, broad-spectrum sunscreen.
FEMININE HYGIENE PRODUCTS
Bring necessary feminine hygiene items. Ensure you have a sufficient supply of preferred products for your entire stay. This helps you stay comfortable and focused on your recovery.
FACE WASH & MOISTURIZER
Maintain your skincare routine. Bringing your regular face wash and moisturizer ensures that your skin stays healthy and you feel refreshed daily. Simple routines can provide a sense of normalcy.
BASIC MAKE-UP (IF DESIRED)
If you use makeup, pack minimal. While we recommend keeping it simple, having some basic items can help you feel more like yourself and boost your confidence during your stay.
MEDICATION
LIST OF PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS & DOSAGES
Include a comprehensive list of your medications. This list should detail the exact dosages and timings, ensuring clarity about your medication schedule. It’s crucial for accurate and safe medication management.
PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS IN ORIGINAL PACKAGING
For clarity, please bring medications in their original containers. The original packaging includes essential information such as the prescribing doctor, dosage instructions, and refill dates, which helps our staff manage your medication safely and effectively.
What Not To Bring
VEHICLES
PERSONAL VEHICLES
Personal vehicles are not allowed. This policy helps maintain a secure and controlled environment. Ensuring the facility manages all transportation helps reduce the risk of unauthorized departures.
WORK VEHICLES
Work vehicles are prohibited. This rule ensures that your focus remains on recovery without external distractions or responsibilities. Keeping your work vehicle at home reinforces the separation from work-related stress.
SMALL PERSONAL TRANSPORT
Do not bring bikes, scooters, segways, or similar items. These can pose a safety risk and distract from your treatment. Our program includes structured physical activities that do not require personal transportation devices.
WEAPONS
SCISSORS
Scissors are not permitted. While they might seem harmless, they can pose a risk in a recovery environment.
KNIVES
Knives of any kind, including pocket knives or utility knives, are forbidden. Ensuring no sharp objects are brought into the facility helps maintain a safe environment.
MACE
Mace or other self-defense sprays are not allowed. These items can be dangerous and are not necessary within our secure environment. We prioritize safety and security for everyone in our care.
UNAPPROVED MEDICATION
OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATIONS
Only approved medications are allowed. Unapproved medications can interact negatively with your residential treatment plan. Our medical staff will provide any necessary over-the-counter medications.
PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS NOT EXPLICITLY APPROVED BY STAFF
Ensure all medications are pre-approved. Bringing unapproved prescription medications can disrupt your treatment and pose health risks. Always consult with our staff before bringing any medication.
ALCOHOL-CONTAINING PRODUCTS
SOME MOUTHWASHES
Avoid mouthwashes containing alcohol. Alcohol can be a trigger for some individuals in recovery. Ensure your products are alcohol-free to support your treatment.
WEIGHT-CONTROL PRODUCTS
PROTEIN POWDER
Do not bring protein supplements. Our diet is designed to provide all necessary nutrients, and protein powders can sometimes contain ingredients that are not suitable for everyone.
STEROIDS
Steroid use is not permitted. Steroids can have serious health implications and are not conducive to a safe recovery environment. Our medical team will manage any necessary medications.
SCENT-RELEASING PRODUCTS
CANDLES
Candles are not allowed. Open flames are a fire hazard, and we prohibit them to ensure everyone’s safety.
INCENSE
Incense is prohibited. It can be a fire risk and may cause allergic reactions or discomfort for others. We focus on maintaining clean and safe air.
AIR FRESHENERS
Do not bring air fresheners. Many contain chemicals that can be harmful or trigger allergies. We ensure the living spaces are clean and odor-free through safe and effective means.
HIGH-VALUE ITEMS
JEWELRY
Leave valuable jewelry at home. High-value items can be a distraction and pose a risk of loss or theft. Keeping them at home ensures your focus remains on recovery.
EXPENSIVE CLOTHING
Avoid bringing costly or designer clothing. Comfortable, casual wear is more suitable for the recovery environment. This helps you avoid stress over potential damage or loss of valuable items.
